Manga like Short Cuts

Palepoli

Status: Finished
Genres: Comedy , Psychological , Supernatural

Palepoli goes beyond the framework of standard four-panel manga and views its structure in new ways. Actually, Furuya knew nothing of conventional manga styles and methods when he started Palepoli. As a result, he created something that bore little similarity to other manga.

Note: A portion of Palepoli (26 pages) was featured in Secret Comics Japan by VIZ Media on July 6, 2000.

Murikuri

Also known as Murikuri.

Status: Finished
Genres: Comedy

From Clamp no Lumiere:

Murikuri is the story of a popular pig, a pervert Santa Claus and his high school girlfriend, nice aliens and many more... It does not make sense and I would advise you to not try to understand it. Murikuri is to CLAMP what special Halloween is to the Simpsons, a collection of short gags.

The future. The people that migrated to an alternate dimensional space, seeking a new world to live in, started an armed rebellion in order to declare independence from Earth. Thus, multi-dimensional war broke out with the United Army of Earth. The battlefronts spread, and the fight grew long.

In their desire to break the deadlock, the United Army of Earth decided to launch a large-scale offensive, deploying to the front line vast amounts of "Assault Girls" -- new arms that would render all previous weaponry ineffective. Piloted by outcasts and criminals, the members of the The 13th Independent Assault Girl Hunting Platoon -- dubbed "The Hyena Platoon" -- are tasked with hunting down and destroying rogue Assault Girl pilots, who have succumbed to the corruption that eventually befalls all pilots.

Garden

Status: Finished
Genres: Comedy , Fantasy , Horror , Psychological , Sci-Fi

"Garden" is a collection of Furuya Usamaru's “indie” shorts that were published in Comic Cue, Manga Erotics and GARO respectively. The title is obviously a reference to Hieronymus Bosch’s famous triptych The Garden of Earthly Delights, with the first story being a homage to said painting. The other stories range from absurd comedies to fantasy to horror. It’s a very eclectic mixture, but make no mistake: artistically, Garden might just be Furuya’s most accomplished work after The Music of Marie.
